DES MOINES – After fielding a large volume of requests from RAGBRAI 2011, event organizers say they are pleased to announce their tentative route for next year’s annual ride across Iowa.
“With hard work and determination, we managed to cut out a large portion of what many riders found to be the most boring part of the ride,” Director of Media Relations Paul Cooper said in a press release. “We could not be more pleased with how RAGBRAI 2012’s route turned out.”

RAGBRAI, which has given thousands of bikers the opportunity to piss in area residents’ yards and disrupt traffic for over thirty years, has long been criticized for its over-emphasis on farmland and other lame Iowa shit. With 2012’s incarnation of the annual event, though, officials have managed to minimize the time spent in Iowa.
Still, some traditionalists find issue with the new route.
“Corn! I mean, what happened to the corn?” bicycle enthusiast Emma Trumpe said. “The best part about the ride was seeing endless fields of corn. I think the part everyone is going to miss most is the corn.”
Is this the first time the ride will go out of state? I thought it is GBR Across IOWA!
This is an Iowa event. Why are you going into another state? Como on don’t do that!
Let’s keep the money in Iowa. It has always been a ride across Iowa so let’s keep it that way.

RAGBRAI is the “Great Bike Ride ACROSS Iowa” so why leave the state?? If we leave the state, this may give people a reason NOT to do it……

better yet fuck the bikes and lets ride motorcycles over and back two or three times and catch all 99 counties. Piss on all the flowers in Pella, drink until we can’t see in Iowa City, go swimming in spirt lake . look at what the assholes that run the locks and dams on the big rivers do to fuck up all are gambling hot spots. go up north and find that dude that cooks the chops. Go down south and check out the Honey Creek Resort (hey it made $2400 in 2011) thats a first. Then ride over to the National motorcycle place in Anamosa, while there its just a short little ride up river to Waubeek Iowa. Great play to eat and skinny dip. Then we better head back southwest maybe Bedford or go see Winterset ,The Duke. and them dam covered bridges. Well if we are that close to Des Moines we mise well go get drunk in the big town. Restock are smoke and off to Dubuque to piss in the Mississippi. I’m petty sure all the towns that we go in will like us when we get there and more when we leave. I’m not real sure how much it costs for the Register to haul all you camping gear but real bikers carry whatever is needed on there bikes and spend all there money on food and drinks.
