PENTACREST – Ron Paul supporters were humbled Friday after mistaking the University of Iowa’s Homecoming parade as a crowd of Ron Paul supporters.
Staffers and volunteers for Ron Paul 2012 had believed the scores of parents and children holding empty bags were a giant crowd awaiting Paul’s visit and speech on the University of Iowa campus Friday evening.
“We thought the kids brought bags so we could pass out pocket Constitutions,” Ron Paul for 2012 organizer Publius Valerius told The Iowa Iowan. “I think it’s really important kids start reading that document early, because it’s what holds this loose union of states together.”
Valerius said it seemed more people were interested in listening to “The Party Rock Anthem” being blasted from every parade float. “Nonetheless, many of the lyrics are certainly consistent with our platform.”
“It just goes to show you the state of our country. People would rather dance and eat candy than listen to a 76-year old politician talk about his views of Austrian economics and a less-centralized federal government structure? That’s pretty sad.”
