STUDENT NOT SURE WHETHER MAN ALREADY PUSHED “WALK” BUTTON

CLINTON ST. AT IOWA AVE.—UI sophomore Griffin Perotti is trying to cross Clinton Street, but some guy is standing next to the “walk” button.

“I really don’t know what to do,” Perotti explained to The Iowa Iowan. “Did he already push the button? I feel like the light would have changed by now if he did.”

According to witnesses, the unidentified man standing near the “walk” button is wearing sunglasses, which is likely a factor in Perotti’s confusion.

BICYCLISTS OVERRUN MOPED RACKS

IOWA CITY—As warmer weather hits Iowa City, the UI campus will face a dire issue that has been hibernating since fall.

“It’s really hard to get around this campus on a moped,” sophomore and avid sweatpants-wearer Brian Relly told The Iowa Iowan Friday, adjusting his drawstring backpack. “But some of us don’t have any other option.”

Multiple bicycles prevent all but one moped from parking at this moped rack on Clinton St.

When bicyclists choose to affix their bicycles to moped racks, sometimes using impenetrable locking mechanisms, moped drivers are literally kicked to the curb.

“I would say it’s unfair to those who need to get from Slater to Pappajohn without walking, like a poor person, or taking the Blue Route, like a faggot,” said student-athlete Steve Moars.

Moped drivers say that the problem is increasingly commonplace. According to Iowa City transportation planner John Yapp, “[the University has] thus far put negligible effort into banning bicycles from moped racks.”

“At some racks, it’s just horrible,” he said.
